Here are some pictures i have taken in Denmark

About the pics:
The "Winter afternoon" pics were taken with a Canon 350D with a Sigma 28-70 mm 2.8 lens and are not manipulated in any way, except for the resizing.
This lens is actually not good for landscape photography because the focus plane is very narrow and often renders vital parts of the picture blurry (even with high aperture values), but since i am not rich i will have to do with it.

The "Copenhagen in april" pics were taken with first the stock lens and later in the month also the Sigma lens which i bought because of it's better aperture values. They are the first pictures i took with a DSLR.

Business trip to Bali

Here are some pictures i have taken During a short trip to Bali in June 2008

I stayed in a suburb to Ubud and spent much of my time in an office selecting the silver jewellery i had come to buy.
However, i still found time to do some long walks in the countryside that surrounds Ubud and was also invited to a cremation ceremony in the north of Bali, so there is a little bit of variety in the pics even though it was primarily a business trip.
I never got down to the beach, except for a dinner at Jimbaran where the seafood is excellent.
I do have to add that most balinese food is excellent, but some of it is just more excellent than the rest.

Bali is as beautiful as it ever was, only development is running rampant and in 20 years you will probably have to look hard to find the idyllic bits that are still prevalent on most of the island at this point in time.

About the pics:
The pics were taken with a Canon 350D with the kit lens (because that was lighter and smaller to carry) and are not manipulated in any way, except for the resizing.

Our trip to Indonesia

These are the pictures i took while traveling Java and Bali with my daughter in July/August 2007.

This was my daughters "non"firmation present - a three week trip to the central part of Indonesia.
We arrived in Jakarta, and promptly went to the west coast of Java to acclimatize. After that we traveled towards Mt. Bromo by bus, train and minibus stopping over in Bandung and Yogjakarta on the way. After seeing the famous sunrise at Mt. Bromo from the vantage point above Mt. Bromo (Gunung Penunjakan) we bussed on to Bali.
We stayed a bit in Kuta (which in the last ten years really has turned into a shithole) then went on to Padangbai where we stayed for some more days, before we returned to Java to catch our flight home from Jakarta. We almost missed that flight due to traffic jams.

Indonesia as a whole is still as nice as i remember it from ten years ago - the food is great, the people friendly and the landscapes stunning.
There is more traffic on the roads, however, and also islam is more visible in everyday life on Java as opposed to when i last visited. It seems that every second building site is a new Mosque, and also more females seem to wear headscarves (not burkas or veils) than previously. Still, Islam here is not (yet?) of the middle eastern variety and apart from the occasional prayer call from a mosque you definitely feel that you are in South East Asia.
Indonesia is a very cheap country to travel in, largely due to the fact that labour costs next to nothing. An english speaking clerk at a bus travel agency told me that her monthly wage was 800.000 rupees.
That amounts to appr. 80 USD...

Enough social commentary - on to the pics:
I have included some pics that are blurry and quite a few with wrong exposures. I felt that these pics could still show something, even though they are not technically perfect.

Pics within the individual folders are in chronological order.

Our trip to Mexico

These are the pictures i took while traveling with my girlfriend in the last weeks of June 2007.

We flew into Mexico City and immediately took a Bus to Puebla where we spent the first night. Then we traveled on to Oaxaca, stayed a few days, continued to the coast at Mazunte where we stayed a few days too and from there went to San Cristobal (de las casas) where we also stayed a dew days.
Then we crossed the mountains to Palenque and returned to Mexico City via Villahermosa and Orizaba.
All of the traveling was done in first class buses, so it wasn't really too hard. But it made the trip a bit more expensive than we had thought. Hotels were not cheap either. But the food was. Yummy!

Interestingly enough Mexico left me feeling a bit indifferent - although there are some spectacular landscapes i somehow felt as if i holidayed in a poorer version of Spain with a native varnish. I realize that i have not at all touched the depth of mexican culture (which i gather there must be) but i didn't really feel a need to. Sorry.
That said, it was a wonderful holiday and we had no problems at all except for a bit of tourist stomach at the beach. Shouldn't have had that fruit juice...
People were very helpful but reserved.
On to the pics:
The pics were all taken with a (fairly) bad Nikon "Coolpix" which is your quintessential point-and-shoot camera with no real possibility to adjust anything and slow shooting on top of that. I did not feel like bringing my DSLR for fear of attracting the wrong sort of attention. (I might add, that after reading the guidebook we fully expected to be victims of at least one highway robbery and several muggings. Absolutely nothing of the sort happened.)

I have included some pics that are blurry and quite a few with wrong exposures. I felt that these pics could still show something, even though they are not technically perfect.

My trip to Sri Lanka
Here are most of the pictures i took on a 16 day vacation on this lovely island in the autumn of 2006.

Great food, great seawater, wild traffic and lots of my favourite trees: Coconut palms.
Nice people too...

I spent my two first nights in a not-so-nice place called Negombo which is close to the airport. Then i traveled south by train and found my tropical paradise in a small village called Mirissa. I stayed there and relaxed, doing absolutely nothing but a few long walks for another 8 or 9 days.
From there i took a bus to Ella in the mountains, stayed one night and then took a train to Candy where i spent three nights before returning to Negombo for the evening waiting for my return flight.

Note to fellow travelers: Avoid Heathrow airport at any cost - the security queues will make you miss your connecting flights and make you want to bite your fingers off out of frustration (or the security personnels fingers, if you are smart).
They are ridiculous. 2 X-ray machines for many thousand people to share...

This time around i had a better camera with me (a Canon EOS 350D with a Sigma 28-70 mm 2.8 lens) and you get pretty much all the photos i took - even some blurry ones.

Pictures are presented in strictly chronological order.

My trip to Peru
I absolutely loved that country!

These are the pictures i took while traveling the southern part of Peru in January 2005.

NOTE: Better resolution jpg's have been uploaded 17.10.07 because i finally have some server space.

Note however, that you will not find any glossy idyllic coffeetable-book shots, but just a bunch of pics that give an impression of what i saw.
Partly because i am not really a good enough photographer, and partly because i believe in "the camera as a neutral observer", and i believe that you get to see some pics of Peru that you wouldn't see otherwise.
The pics were taken with a cheap camera, and often out of bus windows, and are not sorted for "artistic merit" - of which there would be none anyway...

Have fun :-)

176 pictures in the first series.

157 pictures in the second series.

How did i do it?:
I booked a flight with Iberia (CPH>MADRID>LIMA return fare ~1250 US$) and then travelled around by local means of transport (mostly bus, and the occasional shared taxi).
Cheap hotels (avg. 10 US$ for a single with bathroom) can be found upon arrival in most cities, and restaurants are everywhere and serve extremely good food.
Some roads are unpaved and make for long trips even to cover just a few hundred kilometers, but generally transport was efficient and up to fair standards for a developing country.
Plus that the landscapes make up for the long time in the buses :D

Obviously the music on this page is my own and copyright belongs to me.

Introduction to the music

This page contains some pieces i have created over the years, most alone, and some in collaboration with others.
I play guitar as my main instrument, but am not good at writing songs (although i am a fairly good player) so most of these clips contain some form of "electronica" which is easier to do by yourself.
All the music has been recorded at home in a makeshift "home studio" mainly consisting of the gear i have listed below and a shoddy old consumer soundcard - the name of which i will not even mention.

Music is a hobby to me and i use it for relaxing at home - i.e. i am not actively pursuing a career in the music biz, and have no intentions of doing so.
But i will never give up making music, since it is an important part of my life

I hope you enjoy the clips, and please, for the sake of the traffic limits on this site:
Should you want to hear a piece of music more than once, please save it to your harddisk.

Some guitar music

When i say "wanking" about the clips, i mean it.
There are no songs in there, just me improvising over some drums. You get the flubs as well.

Wild wanking     I believe that this was recorded at bedroom volume with my Marshall "Slash" amp

More wanking     This is my Les Paul Custom through my '71 Marshall Superbass with an added master volume. It was recorded at bedroom volume too.

Even more wanking    This is my Slash amp at bedroom volume also too.

An old drumjam     This is an old Harmony-Central "Drumjam" that happened to turn into half a song.
You get to hear my voice here. The guitar is very processed.

Americana    2008 In this i try to get a bluegrass feel going.

Just rock    2008 Rocking out with a drum machine and a synth bass.

Slooow rock (solo wanking)   2009 Demonstrating the Slash 2555's gain, progressing from 2 over 4,6,8 and ending at 10.

More rock (solo wanking)   2009 Demonstrating the Slash 2555 with a slightly scooped EQ and my Explorer - Drums R8, bass MicrowaveXT

Accoustic guitar   2009 A small trial recording of my Levin accoustic - not brilliantly played at all, but still somewhat spanish in feel.

Ambient guitar on Jupiter background   2009 Arpeggio courtesy of the JP-4, guitar is the Kramer through the 6101. Delay Alesis Wedge - One improvised take on the guitar.

Old School rock'n roll   2009 Well... almost old school. Explorer through 2555 head. R8 drums

80's technopop danish style   2009 Some solo wanking over a primitive techno-pop background.

Ambient jazzy guitar    2010 One improvised 9 minute take on the guitar. Les Paul Custom through the 6101 preamp (ch. 2 mode 2) with line out to the mixer, reverb Alesis Wedge. TG77 (FM bass), JP4 drone and R8 drums.

Pickup test of a '92 standard Stratocaster (Made in Mexico). Recorded through the 6101 preamp (emulated speaker) channel 2, mode B lowish gain.

JJ Melody Maker    2013 Played through the Marshall 6101 and a wedge "tape" delay. Drums R8, bass Miniak. 14 minutes of improvisation.

Mexican Strat    2013 Played through the Marshall 6101 and the MPX1 reverb. Drums R8, bass Miniak. ~6 minutes of improvisation where i "play" the arpeggiator on the miniak while soloing on the guitar.

Mexican Strat    2013 Played through the Marshall 6101 and reverb. Drums R8, bass Miniak. ~7 minutes of shoddy improvisation over an extremely simple bass line. I am not from the caribean islands, i am afraid...

Blues jamming    2015 '91 Mim Strat played through the Marshall 6101 with SPX990 reverb. Backing by RS7000. ~7 minutes of improvisation over an extremely simple blues progression.

NEW!!! Appalachian sundance    2016 Three improvised takes of the Levin model 174 through the Studio Projects C1, R8 provides the groove...

NEW!!! 014    2016 A drone created by Morten Lind Jakobsen and me soloing on the '71 LDP with "dirty fingers" through the 6101.

Some clips of me playing blues to a fairly boring backing track. Played on my '93 mim Stratocaster that has 500 Kohm pots in all positions. Makes it nice and bright.

For my baby daughter

I named this after my baby daughter Ella who was 5 weeks old when i recorded this. I guess you could call it easy listening.
Ellas quiet afternoon

I also named this after Ella - this was recorded shortly after her birth 17.11.08. It is not jazzy

Electronic music

Before you start listening to these pieces, let me warn you: A lot of these clips are repetitive washes of noise and others are just repetitive. If you are not into that aesthetic, go to the next category where you get to hear actual songs.

Aautoobaan     A little piece created in a free program called Buzz

Rest your weary soul    This is a sample of my voice that was processed in Buzz.

Buzzdance    One of the few songs i have ever managed to finish in Buzz. Old and naive and the siren sound is annoying...

Dance away (into the darkest of nights)    This is a pretty rough piece, created on a RM1X. You could dance to it. If you were so inclined.

Pleasing Music    I have no idea what to call this - but it could be classified as Electronica ;-) . Ambient?
Anyway, the music is created with a Jupiter 8 and a Roland R8 drum machine.

Laid back funk    Yes, this is danceable as well. All tracks are done on a Jupiter 8 and played by hand since the one i had didn't have MIDI.

Improvised electronica    This is an improvised recording of my Jupiter 4 with no effects added.

Improved improvised electronica    This is the same recording as the one before, but some effects have been added.

Arpeggiator impro     DW8000 arpeggiator with TG77 following with a pad in the background.

Squares     An assortment of synths playing sounds based on square waves only.

Lullaby in square    All sounds are from the square wave on the Jupiter 4. Relaxing.

Long improvisation    This is a very long recording (37 Mb) of me manipulating two synths, a drum machine and the mixer. The synths were Jupiter 4 and Roland JX 10.

Something sad    In this i play a solo on the JX 10 while an arpeggio on the Jupiter 4 plays in the background.

Digital Bliss    2008 utilizing mostly my new digital synths the Waldorf Microwave XT and Kawai K5000.

Electronic music    2009 R8 provides drums the JX 10 does a dirty bass/background and it is decorated with arpeggiated JP4 and some K5000

Krautrock inspired    2009 R8 drums played "live" over the arpeggiated JP4 that also does some synth layers in the background. Then there is a Yamaha SGV 300 through the 6101 doing some retro noodling. Turn on, tune in, drop out...

Dark electronic noises    2009 An assortment of synths provide noises - hand played bass by Matrix6r, drums Roland R8

Electro inspired    2009 RS7000 does the drums (BD created in "Stomper") Matrix6r, Microwave XT and K5k do noises.

Neptune Bells   3 tracks of JP8 with heavy use of FX. Atmospheric dissonance.

Float   3 tracks of JP8. Some hand played drummachine in there as well.

Tranquility   2013 100% wet reverb from the Alesis Wedge - a Miniak provided the source sound.

January improvisation    A slightly jazzy piece of two takes of moody improvisation. JX10 went into a giant MPX1 reverb for pads and the Alpha Juno 2 through a SPX990 did the lead.

Midsummer    Lots of MPX1 (weird choir) and SPX990 (room) reverb on Miniak piano and XTstrings - more improvised ambient

Summer    Lots of MPX1 reverb on Miniak piano - more improvised ambient

NEW Accepting my age    Lots of MPX1 and SPX990 (room) reverb on Miniak drone and piano - in total you get 8 mono tracks of reverb - 4 tracks for each instrument.

NEW Disjointed happyness    Arpeggios from the Miniak sent through the Wedges delay float above a Miniak bass with some R8 percussion through SPX990 in the background.

"Greenland series"    September/October 2013

These have nothing at all to do with Greenland.
All the music is completely improvised, and mistakes have not been edited out.
Also, these pieces feature heavy doses of reverb from my (to me) new toys, the Yamaha SPX990 and the Lexicon MPX-1.

001    A mexican strat subjected to several reverbs. Clean and quiet.

002    A selfprogrammed piano patch on the Miniak - ambient.

003    LP deluxe slightly overdriving the clean preamp (Music scratchy) on the 6101.

004    Kawai K5000 provides a background layer with the Miniak piano on top - ambient.

005    Kawai K5000 bells with a reverbed Waldorf XT patch underneath. R8 drums have an Alesis Wedge reverb added. Ambientish.

006    Miniak sequence with the Ibanez 540 PII going through the Marshall 6101's lead channel. Widdly widdly.

007    Miniak, Kawai and Juno create an ambient soundscape.

008    Miniak, delay and reverbs create an ambient soundscape.

Synthesizer demos

A Jupiter4 and JX 10    A comparison just to hear the difference in attack times

The next sound clips are clips made with a single synth. Some do have effects and EQ - but usually just a bit of delay or reverb is added - nothing drastic.

Korg DW 8000

The Korg DW 8000    A small demo clip that shows both the analogue and the digital side of this synth.

The Korg DW 8000    Just a small demo of different sounds and how they react to joystick manipulation

The Korg DW 8000    Filter sweeps - kind of retro sounding

Oberheim Matrix 6r

The Oberheim Matrix 6r    Just a small demo

The Oberheim Matrix 6r    All sounds are from the M6r - including "drums"

The Oberheim Matrix 6r    A small demo of a nice sound

The Oberheim Matrix 6r    Just a small demo of various sounds it can do

The Oberheim Matrix 6r    Another demo of a nice sound

The "mod matrix" taken to extremes
Sometimes i play a few notes, but basically i am just holding down a key and then let the internal modulation routings do their thing. Done to see how weird sounds you can get from this synth.

The Oberheim Matrix 6r    Modulations

Roland Jx-10

The fabulous JX10    doing a meditative soundscape. If you like this and want more, mail me and you can get a version that is 1 hour 10 minutes long.

The fabulous JX10    imitating a rainforrest with weird tribal music - all sounds are straight JX-10 and the alesis wedge was used for reverb only

The fabulous JX10    trying to sound electronic

The fabulous JX10    trying to sound big

The fabulous JX10    trying to do basses (filter movement)

The fabulous JX10    trying to do more basses (filter movement)

The fabulous JX10    trying to do even more basses (filter movement)

The fabulous JX10     trying to do yet some more basses (filter movement)

The fabulous JX10    trying to do more basses again

Roland Jupiter 4

The wonderfully raw Jupiter 4     This clip consists of three tracks of JP-4 playing various sounds while i manipulate pitch bend and filter modulation. No effects, no eq. Pure synth.

Roland R-8

The R8 goes weird     I let a pattern play and manipulate the sounds on the fly - no FX.

These songs are the result of a collaboration between me and a female friend who wanted her songs recorded.
She already had a bunch of songs ready and after i laid down a track of rhythm guitar (electric straight through the mixer) to a drumbeat i had preprogrammed she did the vocals, after which i could process the songs as i wanted to.
The results were that we could get several versions of the same song that were wildly different.

So even if there are 7 links in this section there are only 5 actual songs.

The songs are not fully produced but should rather be seen as sketches. But i like them enough to place them here.

For these songs i used whatever i felt the song needed, so no gear descriptions, because i can't remember what i used.

Engledans    The title translates to angel dance. It is not a happy song however.

Please     A nice song

Sweetheart    In this version i get to play some nice guitar.

Sweetheart Remix    In this version i went overboard with the possibilities of PC recording. It does not really sound like the first version.

Talk to me    The harsh electronic version - the one i like.

Talk to me (orchestral)    The softer version - apparently everyone elses preference. Oh well.

Touch me    Not the best song of the bunch, so it comes last.
